Beech roundwood exports to China dropped significantly

During the second half of 2018, German beech logs exports to China decreased significantly. While in the first two quarters export volume was at 155,325 m³ and 154,917 m³, beech logs exports to China surpassed the comparative figure of the previous year by 18% and 24% respectively, exports in the third and fourth quarter demonstrated along negative lines.

Growth in prices for coniferous round wood in Estonia

In January 2019 prices for coniferous sawlogs in Estonia were higher than a month before. The Estonian forest administration RMK of Tallinn in its monthly price statistics registered the greatest increase in pine with a top-end diameter of less than 18 cm at the level of 10.1%.

Beech exports to China fell down by 11% in 2018

The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) states that in the third quarter of 2018 beech lumber exports from Germany to China decreased by 11% in comparison to the previous year to a figure of 38,227m³. Generally, exports from Germany to China were represented by long-term contracts directly with China processors.
