An increasingly higher amount of damaged wood in Germany in 2018 led to a 20.3 % rise in timber felling to 64.362m m³ in comparison to 2017.
In accordance with the "Timber felling statistics 2017" released by the Federal Statistical Office in April, the volume of damaged timber reached 31.664m m³ and was more than two and a half times as high as in 2017. In such a way the share of damaged wood in total logging increased from 23% to 49%.
